Shot 3 times, rampage survivor played dead

The sole survivor of Sunday's shooting rampage in Wisconsin played dead after off-duty sheriff's deputy Tyler Peterson shot him three times, Wisconsin's attorney general said Tuesday. Some of Peterson's other victims were gunned down as they tried to hide.

Five Democratic presidential candidates are pulling out of Michigan's January primary, rendering the event virtually insignificant. Candidates already had agreed not to campaign there because the state bucked rules by scheduling contests before February 5.

Two suicide truck bombings detonated minutes apart today, killing 18 people and wounding 22 others in Baiji, Iraq, local police said. Violence reverberated also in neighboring Nineveh province, where gunmen assassinated a provincial police official, and in Baghdad, where bombers killed three civilians.
