Ajax maintain advantage after draw

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands — Ajax remain on top of the Dutch Eredivisie after securing a hard-fought 2-2 draw at second-placed Feyenoord.

The visitors fell behind to a goal from Giovanni van Bronckhorst approaching the half-hour mark but turned it around after the break, levelling through Dennis Rommedahl.

Siem de Jong gave Ajax the lead but the Rotterdammers salvaged a draw thanks to Jonathan De Guzman’s 74th-minute strike.

Ajax continue to lead the way on goal difference from their arch-rivals.

Champions PSV Eindhoven could have gone top but were held 1-1 at home by AZ Alkmaar.

Ferreira Ari gave Louis van Gaal’s men the lead but Jefferson Farfan equalised for PSV 14 minutes into the second half. PSV are still one point behind the top two.

Heerenveen moved up to fourth after a 1-0 win at Vitesse Arnhem, despite going down to 10 men, while Groningen lost 5-1 at Roda. E-mail to a friend
