Foreign Companies In China Can’t Get No Love

copious in brubaker concluded at all roads come to china has a post up on how the chinese regime makes its laws with its own populace in mind, not out of consideration for tramontane companies. the post is entitled, “regulations in china: are you prepared? are you ready? are you ok?” and here is its money quote: there is and has been a sense of entitlement in the foreign community about their contribution to china, and its economy. that because of foreigners and overseas investment, everything that has happened in china.. that without foreigners this place would flush down the drain etc. and peaceful if verified, that does not approach that they should just bend over to the interests of foreign parties. they be undergoing 1.4 billion people to manage, and at all times that number wishes trump anything else offered. rich is absolutely set and his nitty-gritty really ought to be prominent, but it is not. i am constantly hearing from transpacific businesses complaining less this or that chinese law and then stating that china just does not understand what its laws do to foreign business. grandly, the chinese government does understand, but foreign businesses (particularly those smaller than intel, caterpillar and coca-cola) are just not at one of its chief priorities. so, as elegant says in this post, if you are a foreign business in china, you must always keep your ears to the ground regarding upcoming laws that might affect your business. unfortunately, sometimes this works and sometimes it does not, as there have definitely been times in china where laws or regulations have come out without any real warning. china is not without its legal risks. for more on handling china’s ever changing legal r?gime, check discernible china law as guessing game.

Concrete-encased body parts found at home

posted by admin in cnn, news

CORTEZ, Colorado (AP) — Dismembered body parts encased in concrete buckets were found at a missing man’s home, and his 20-year-old son was arrested on suspicion of murder, the sheriff said Thursday.

The remains were found in three places, including the family home of Jack Berry, 42, who relatives said had been missing for a few months.

Sheriff Gerald Wallace said a CT scan done at a hospital found the body parts in the buckets. Investigators were awaiting tests to determine whether the dismembered body was Berry’s.

It’s not like your normal homicide, where you have a body lying there and you can identify him, he said. There were some body parts in two buckets of concrete.

Investigators did not say where the other buckets were found.

Wallace said parts of the body were still missing. Investigators were searching in a rural county about 250 southwest of Denver with the help of a dog trained to find cadavers.

Berry’s son, Jeremiah Raymond Berry, is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail, Wallace said.

The investigation began Monday after the Arizona Department of Public Safety relayed a missing-person report about Jack Berry to Colorado officials. It was not immediately clear who originated the report and why it came from Arizona.

Jeremiah Berry was identified first as a person of interest and then as a suspect after investigators interviewed him Tuesday, Wallace said. It wasn’t known whether Berry had an attorney.

The sheriff said the younger Berry helped investigators with the search. E-mail to a friend

Bloomberg agency faces discrimination lawsuit

posted by admin in cnn, news

NEW YORK (AP) — A U.S. lawyer has told a judge the number of women accusing the financial data and news service company founded by Mayor Michael Bloomberg of discrimination has risen from three to 58, with more likely to be added.

The disclosure widens the scope of a lawsuit against Bloomberg LP that became a distraction for the mayor during his second term.

Bloomberg is not a defendant in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuit claiming discrimination against women who take maternity leave.

EEOC senior trial attorney Raechel Adams told a judge presiding over the case Thursday that the number of women joining the class-action lawsuit will rise as the EEOC continues to interview 478 women at the Bloomberg agency who have gone on maternity leave since 2002.
