Two blasts rock Istanbul, killing 13
ISTANBUL, Turkey (CNN) — Two deadly explosions rocked suburban Istanbul Sunday night, killing at least 13 people and injuring 70 others, a government official told CNN Turk.
Istanbul Gov. Muammer Guler called the blasts an act of terror.
The back-to-back blasts happened in Istanbul’s Gungoren community at about 10 p.m., a journalist with Turkish news agency DHA told CNN Turk.
The journalist, Zafer Karakoc, said he witnessed the explosions.
Video footage from the scene shows several bloodied people being transported into ambulances.

Glass and debris were strewn all over the brick sidewalks.

The shooting was reported at 10:18 a.m. Sunday at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, Deputy Police Chief Bill Roehl said. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after police arrived and was being questioned at the church, Roehl said.
Moving northwest toward the island, the tropical storm has gained strength over the past 24 hours and developed into a typhoon packing winds of 85 miles per hour, the Central Weather Bureau said.
He’ll face Nicolas Kiefer, who reached the championship match with a 6-7 (4), 6-3, 7-6 (5) win over France’s Gilles Simon in the first semifinal.
