Aurora Republican Women elect new officers

AURORA — Eighty-five years after marking their first meeting, the Aurora Republican Women???s Club celebrated another first: naming the first Hispanic as president of the organization.

Gabriela Wyatt was elected president of the ARWC at its December meeting, held at the Orchard Valley Restaurant in Aurora. Wyatt is joined by the following officers: Micki Nottke, vice-president; Deborah Angelo, treasurer; and Stephanie Navarro, secretary.

New board members elected at the meeting are Mary Pierceall, Gerri Navarro and Penny Falcon. Judge Judy Brawka swore in the new officers and board members. Barb Baker, Della Winckler, Dianna Winckler, Martha Kieffer, and Trudy Brown remain as board members.

Named as parliamentarian was Penny Cameron. In accepting her role as ARWC President, Wyatt said she looked forward to increasing awareness about such Republican values as less government, lower taxes, traditional family values, strong national security and school choice.

Wyatt also serves as National Committeewoman for the Republican National Hispanic Assembly of Illinois and is the chairman of the Kane County Chapter of the RNHA of Illinois.
